A standout feature of the design is the innovative use of a helical staircase and other architectural elements to introduce natural light into the basement levels. This approach provides a clever and effective solution to the common problem of dimly lit underground parking, creating a brighter and more welcoming environment for users. The facility is equipped with a modern, automated payment and management system to ensure efficient traffic flow and security for both vehicles and pedestrians. This development successfully adds a vital public utility while preserving the original landscape and prominence of the Holy Family Basilica.
Project Description
This project involved the construction of a modern, multi-level underground parking facility at the Holy Family Basilica in Nairobi’s Central Business District. The structure provides approximately 600 secure parking slots over four subterranean levels, addressing the significant demand for parking in the city centre. It officially opened in December 2019.
